There's nothing like coming home to a couple of slabs
And not just slabs of beer.
Now we really feel as though we are "out of the ground". Nine concrete trucks left Goulburn at 6.30 on Wednesday morning to trundle concrete out to our place for the house slab and the garage slab. Six blokes worked for most of the day to pour them and when we arrived home that night, there were two lovely new slabs on the ground. We can now get an idea of just how big the buildings are going to be. The bathroom and ensuite kinda don't look as big as what we thought they would be, but then everyone assures us that it's just an optical illusion. Once the walls are in, they'll look plenty big enough! The laundry is massive and looks about the size of another bedroom, which is kinda funny 'cause it's the least used room in the house really.
There won't be much happening for a bit because of the Christmas/New Year break. We will just have to wait until end of January/beginning of February (or thereabouts) for the frames, trusses, windows and doors to arrive. Then it will be our turn to do the actual building.
